LDN + Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA)

LDN stands for Low Dose Naltrexone. Naltrexone was originally approved in the 1980s to treat opioid addiction at doses around 50 mg. But doctors found that when taken at a much lower dose — usually between 0.5 and 4.5 mg it had a modulating effect on the immune system in a good way.
LDN is prominently used for autoimmune diseases where the immune system is in a overdrive and LDN modulates the immune system and brings it to a medium or balances it out and brings it to a healthy normal state.
It does this by temporarily blocking opioid receptors for a few hours, and the body responds by producing more endorphins,  your natural “feel-good” hormones. These endorphins do more than affect mood, they also play a role in regulating the immune system. More endorphins can help natural killer cells and other immune cells better detect and attack cancer cells.
Chronic inflammation is linked to cancer growth and progression. LDN seems to help calm the immune system, especially in people with autoimmune or inflammatory conditions. Less inflammation may create an environment where cancer has a harder time spreading.
Some lab studies (in animals or petri dishes) have shown that LDN might slow down the growth of certain tumors — especially through its action on the opioid growth factor (OGF) system. When LDN blocks opioid receptors briefly, it seems to upregulate the OGF system, which can send “stop signals” to cancer cells, telling them to stop dividing.

Alpha Lipoic Acid has many anti-cancer properties just like other natural antioxidants.
It was when Dr Burton Berkson combined LDN with ALA that he saw good outcomes in treating cancer.

The dose of ALA was 600 mg.
However the ALA was administered in intravenously. The LDN was 4.5 mg oral at bed time.
One another Doctor replicated this therapy except with oral ALA, 250 mg, three times a day and 1 mg LDN sublingually three times daily.
This combination has a good synergy against cancer. So if you’re taking LDN, then it would make sense to add ALA to the mix to enhance it.
